Martin Cohen joins Visual Terrain, Inc. after having designed and consulted on over sixty newsroom lighting systems and upgrades. He is sought after and acknowledged to be an expert in the development and design of innovative lighting technology in HDTV and virtual news sets throughout North America. His work has contributed to his clients receiving 15 Cam Pro Awards, 2 Iris Awards, 13 Pro Max, 2 BDA Awards, and 2 Gold BPMC International Awards. Martin, himself, was honored with a presidential citation while working with the US military as a documentary film cameraman.
Martin has worked in a wide range of disciplines within the television industry. He has designed over 350 TV programs, including dramas, awards shows, musicals, game shows, comedies, children’s programming, religious events, talk, cooking and many exercise programs. He has also been involved in the creation of lighting for thousands of commercials for such prominent clients as Shell, Petro Canada, ESPN, Bell Canada, Rolls Royce, and Mercedes Benz.
For television sports, Martin has been involved with lighting and camera for two Olympic Games, a Pan American Game, two Commonwealth Games, four Alberta Winter Games, 29 Calgary Stampede Rodeos and the Vancouver Expo.
For ten years, Martin was the owner and principal cinematographer of M.N.C. Films, which shot and produced wilderness, white water rafting, sailing, and aerial films.
Within the television news industry, Mr. Cohen has been involved with designing and lighting over sixty TV stations throughout North America. Some of the most notable stations include WJLA-TV 7 ABC (Washington, DC National) with Peter Jennings; Global National TV (Vancouver), BCHD with Kevin Newman; KXAS TV NBC (Dallas/ Fort Worth); WPVI-TV6 ABC (Philadelphia, HD); ABC 6 (Providence, RI, HD); Spanish Network Univision 23/TeleFutura 49 (Dallas/Fort Worth, HD) and many more.
