Jeff Ravitz Designs Lighting For Spoken-Word Dvd

Van Nuys, CA—Lighting Designer Jeff Ravitz has designed the lighting for a new television special and DVD release featuring alternative rocker, actor, author, publisher, and performance artist, Henry Rollins.

The spoken-word show in which Rollins energetically tells stories and offers commentary on politics, art and the human condition, was videotaped in high definition before an enthusiastic live audience at the Moore Theatre in Seattle.

Ravitz comments, "Henry is one of the most exciting performers of his generation. He holds nothing back, and it was with this understanding that I approached the lighting. It is not a cue-intensive show but the look that I went for attempts to be in sync with Henry’s entire attitude and delivery, while making it easy for the audience to look at him for over three hours of his high voltage show."

The Moore Theatre also provided a beautiful surrounding for the performance. Ravitz put a great deal of effort into subtly accentuating the architecture.

The show is slated for broadcast and DVD release sometime in 2004.
