Production Specialist Profile: Mallory Paddock

Name: Mallory Paddock Stull

Title: Production & Design Specialist

Years Worked at VT: Four  (+3 more from 2015 – 2018)

Favorite Project: Idk which ones I can talk about, but I love highly themed experiences like dark rides, coasters, and walkthrough experiences, as well as museum exhibits.

Tell us your funniest or most memorable memory at Visual Terrain: Bringing my now husband with me to the THEA’s in 2024. It was a fun year where we brought all our significant others and got to show them a bit of our industry and what we do. It also gave us a great excuse to have a big California roadtrip from north to south!

Favorite Aspect of Lighting Design: When you get to make a moment magical and unforgettable all while wrangling endless amounts of data from behind the scenes. Translating organization in to enchantment is such a unique element of working in Lighting Design.

What or Who Inspires You: I’ve always been inspired by polymath types. My favorite musician Vienna Teng also happens to have a degree in software engineering and has had a whole separate career in Climate Action and business strategy. My grandfather studied for his PhD in economics while casting lead miniatures and painting them, playing in an Irish folk band, and ended up writing a novel at the age of 91.
I find it very inspiring to see people expand their knowledge and expertise in and out of the working world, and seeing how their own interests overlap and influence their vocations.

Fun Fact About Yourself that No One Knows: I speak Tolkein’s Elvish languages and have studied them for years! They actually inspired me to learn Welsh as well!

What is your favorite part about being a production specialist? I love seeing a package come together. As a Production team member, I get a lot of fulfillment from seeing our design organized in a clean and legible way on the page.
