Design ARCHollywood Vaults offers secure storage for film, photographs or any other media at a constant, humidity-controlled 45 degrees. Twenty-four hour a day access places signifigant demands on the lighting system. All sources in the lobby areas are compact fluorescent and metal halide, adjusted to a “daylight blue” to reinforce the cold storage theme.
Because fluoresent lamps don’t function well in cold environments, the vaults themselves are lit with incandescent track lights. Each fixture is colored to match the same “daylight blue” as the lobby. Fixtures are automatically switched on and off when a client accesses their storage areas, allowing substantial savings in energy and lamp life.
